Escola de Samba Sydney

Escola de Samba Sydney is our flagship studio, founded in 2016 by director and head instructor, Sashya Jay. Renowned as an international leader in Brazilian dance education, Escola de Samba Sydney is the centre of our online programs and the “CEO” of our franchise schools. 

With very humble beginnings in 2016, the Sydney school started with Sashya teaching just one weekly Samba class. The integrity and authenticity in Brazilian dance education was a standout and the school gradually grew from strength to strength with a powerhouse team of instructors who have all trained extensively in Brazil and parade in Rio Carnaval annually. 

The Sydney studio now has 16 weekly classes in Samba, Brazilian Funk and Afro Brazilian, 3 student performance teams, regular workshops with Bateria (live drumming) and international artists as well as a spectacular annual Gala event. 

Based on the world famous technique of Carlinhos Salgueiro (Rio’s King of Samba) and the extensive experience of our instructor team,  Escola de Samba Sydney has a signature Samba syllabus and 6 levels of Samba at the school. The Escola de Samba online program and our franchise schools all follow this sought-after curriculum.

Escola de Samba Adelaide

Escola de Samba Adelaide was founded in 2022 by Sashya Jay and Jane Nunes who is the director and head instructor of the school. With well over a decade of experience as a Samba instructor and artist, Jane Nunes leads a team of dedicated instructors who train with Escola de Samba online and are committed to upholding the integrity of Samba culture and education in Adelaide.

Escola de Samba Adelaide follows our flagship Sydney school’s syllabus and curriculum. The studio offers classes in Samba and Funk, a student performance team and workshops in Samba, Funk, Afro and Bateria (life drumming) throughout the year.  Instructors and students from Adelaide also travel to Rio Carnaval every year to immerse themselves in Brazilian dance culture and training.

Escola de Samba Denver

Escola de Samba Denver was founded in 2021. Our Denver director and head instructor Caitlin Brozna Smith is also the director of the Bella Diva (world dance) school and had been previously teaching and performing Samba for many years in Colarado. After training extensively with Sashya Jay and Escola de Samba Sydney online during the pandemic, Caitlin launched Escola de Samba Denver in 2021.

Escola de Samba Denver is currently the only Brazilian dance school in the USA to follow the sought-after Escola de Samba Sydney syllabus with instructors who train meticulously with Escola de Samba online. The studio offers classes in Samba and workshops in Brazilian dance as well as two annual student performance gala events every year.  Instructors and students from Denver also travel to Rio Carnaval each year to immerse themselves in Brazilian dance culture and training.
